Frequently-Asked Questions

Q. Will the unit be visible under close scrutiny?
A. You have to literally lift up the hair to see the root area, and then it may
not even be easy to notice except under bright light.
Q. How is it affixed to the head?
A. We use only the best. A new high-tech glue that looks like white paper glue
has now been perfected and we use it with good results. No more solvents, longer
adhesive time than previous glues. Non-irritating and reusable*
for long periods of time.
Q. Will the unit become loose?
A. As the hair grows underneath the unit and the glue loses its grip due to
decreased surface area, the unit will become slightly loose over a period of 2-4
weeks. Most customers who decide to partially re-attach at home only require one
touch-up. Others can wear the unit between visits without any touch-up.
Q. Will the unit become itchy or uncomfortable?
A. Not unless you have other factors such as dyeing the hair (your own, perhaps
to mask gray side locks) and then go out in the sun, in which case the
compromised skin reacts to the sun with extreme itching. If you dye your own
hair or we dye it for you, avoid direct sunlight on the sensitive skin
(remember, this has nothing to do with your hair unit, but on a common problem
with having scalp skin exposed to hair dye and then direct sun). After three or
four days of avoiding direct sun on the scalp (wear a hat if you are going to be
outside) it should be fine. The unit is designed to breathe, so oxygen and
sunlight can filter in on your scalp. It does not "seal" your head, so
you can wash your hair vigorously and your scalp will be washed as well.
Q. Will water or bathing cause the unit to loosen up?
A. No. Being immersed in water, water and soap, or salt water does not loosen
the unit. The unit only loosens with time or continued growth of hair, not with
normal bathing and outdoor activities.
Q. Can I swim with it on?
A. Yes, see above.
Q. Does the hair look real?
A. It IS real human hair. From there,
It is up to the technician to give you a good style. We have the best girls in
town! You will more than likely look better than if your missing hair was still
there.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Call us for a free appointment and we
will give you several options to choose from according to your needs.
Q. How often must I come in for service?
A. Customers vary as to their needs, but
typical is 3-4 weeks and sometimes longer.
Q. Can I wear short or long hair, or am I limited to a certain style?
A. You can wear your hair in longer styles
or even a low cut if you desire. Start out a little longer than you want it and
we will cut it down to what you like over two or three visits.
Q. Can the unit be pulled off in a moment of struggle?
A. I once got in a fight that resulted in
someone suddenly pulling my hair, literally. The unit had been on for a week,
and it didn't loosen it at all. Fortunately, neither of us got hurt.
Q. Can I dye my hair?
A. As said above, if you dye your own
hair or we dye it for you, avoid direct sunlight on the sensitive skin
(remember, this has nothing to do with your hair unit, but on a common problem
with having scalp skin exposed to hair dye and then direct sun). After three or
four days of avoiding direct sun on the scalp (wear a hat if you are going to be
outside) it should be fine.
Q. What if I have already had hair transplants?
A. I myself am a victim of a hair transplant
job gone bad several years ago. My hairline was made too low, and there wasn't
enough hair on the back of my head to fill in the rest after that mistake. A
flap was cut from the top to stretch the scalp together, and this only made my
head more unsightly. I do not recommend this procedure to others, needless to
say. If you are balding or have other need for hair replacement, and Viagra or
other hair growth potions do not work for you, your only option for now may be a
hair replacement unit. Give us a call at
CompanyPhone.
* the glue does not lose its tackiness as do the
solvent glues; often one can just re-position the unit without adding glue, and
it holds fine for another few days!
